In Case of Rape or Other Sexual Crime
  1. Get to a safe place.
  2. Seek medical attention.
  3. Do not comb, bathe, douche, or change clothes; do not wash your clothes.
  4. Do not brush your teeth or take a drink.
  5. Do not touch or change anything at the scene of the assault.
  6. Take a change of clothes with you to the hospital.
  7. Bring your I.D. and proof of insurance.
  8. Tell someone you trust.
  9. Seek support from a professional counselor.
  10. Report the crime to law enforcement.
  11. Decide if you want to press charges.
  12. Understand that it is not your fault.

How to Reduce the Risk of Sexual assault

    In your car
  • Park in well lit areas when possible.
  • Have keys in hand and ready to use.
  • If you are followed, don't drive home, go to the police.


  • Walking or jogging
  • Tell someone where you are going and when to expect your return.
  • Avoid walking or jogging after dark.
  • Carry a whistle.
  • BE ALERT to your surroundings.


  • At a party
  • Most date rape drugs are colorless, oderless and tasteless.
  • Open your own dring and never leave your drink unattended.


  • All the time
  • Know your limits and communicate them clearly.
  • Be aware of your surroundings.
  • Have a safety plan.
