This is a great, easy way to help!

- For each Kids First plate you order, include an additional $37.00 to your normal registration and excise fees.
- Your plates will be mailed to you promptly.

Help in simple ways.
The following ideas are simple ways to help prevent child abuse and neglect by being supportive of parents.
To support parents of infants:
- Offer respite care.
- Make a meal and carry it in.
- Model "positive" interactions with infants that encourage attachment or bonding. For example, teach parents how to talk "baby talk", how to hold and comfort a crying baby and how to bathe an infant.
- Answer questions about their parenting without placing blame on the parent.
To support parents of toddlers.
- Empathize with the "full time" nature of parenting at this stage.
- Praise consistency in parental behavior.
- Offer to play with their children and demonstrate how to be encouraging and set limits.
To support parents of preschoolers.
- Share your own experiences with your children at this age.
- Share your favorite parenting book, children's book or website.
- Invite parents to the library for a special children's program.
- Invite parents to share a meal, picnic or trip to the park.
To help parents of school-aged children.
- Offer assistance in transporting children to school or after-school activities.
- Offer to teach school-aged children your hobby or special talent.
- Volunteer as a coach, scout leader or Big Brother/Big Sister.
- Be a good role model.
To help parents of adolescents.
- Listen to parental concerns without judgement.
- Be available when parents feel like they might say or do something to harm their adolescent.
- Help parents decide what is "developmentally normal" for their adolescent and what seems dangerous.
